TV, magazines, internet: Cuisine is everywhere

Yet people – you can also investigate the reasons, which are many and varied – heritage, rejection of the traditional female role, stressful life, lack of time, little confidence in their abilities – cook less and less and, above all, do not feel comfortable in the kitchen.

Just go to the supermarket to realize it: if there are more people interested in the label and check carefully what they will introduce into their stomach, on the other hand there are more and more that fill the trolley with precooked and ready meals of various kinds.

IIn short, the more we talk about it, the less we do.

A little bit what happened to sex: it was a debated topic in the 80s. Of this sex, so cleared of customs and filled with newspapers and TV, there was much talk and a little done, apparently. Today we don’t even talk about it anymore..

So what is the task of cooking schools now? obviously not teaching sex, although cooking can sometimes be aphrodisiac ……

Rather than teaching techniques and ingredients, which in the end we also got bored, the school now has the task of “relaxing”.

The time of the authoritarian hierarchy of the kitchen brigades is over, the time of the intimidating chef who yells and overturns pots is over. The cuisine that must be taught is “feminine”:

 clean, organized, methodical, orderly, collaborative, coordinated, precise and at the same time fast and calm.

This is what the school must teach:

To understand that “midnight comes anyway” and generally in the restaurant no one dies for a delay, an advance or a wrong cut of a zucchini.

Cooking is coordination: coordination of our body movements and coordination with the work of others.

t requires calm, like a sort of meditation.
